[ARCHIVED] City Seeks Nominees for Human Rights Award

Chaska, Minn. – The Chaska Human Rights Commission is seeking nominations for the 2018 Chaska Human Rights Award. 

Eligible recipients are individuals and organizations (businesses, volunteers or religious groups) that have shown special efforts to ensure all citizens of Chaska equal opportunities in employment, housing, public accommodations, public services, education and such other affairs as affect the social well-being of the Chaska Community.

“Chaska is a place where many people commit time to helping others in a variety of ways,” said Jen Welvaert, the Chaska Human Rights Commission Chairperson. “Often, they work quietly behind the scenes. The Chaska Human Rights Award serves as a way to recognize and highlight the important efforts individuals and organizations provide to ensure our community members have equal access to basic human rights.”

Nomination forms can be found by following this link. Completed applications can be dropped off in-person at Chaska City Hall, mailed to the Chaska Human Rights Commission, 1 City Hall Plaza, Chaska, MN 55318, or emailed to Nate Kabat. The deadline to submit applications is December 20, 2018.

The Chaska Human Rights Commission Members will review all nominations and select the Award recipient. The Award recipient will be recognized at a Chaska City Council meeting and/or the Chaska Martin Luther King Jr – Human Rights Breakfast, which will be held on January 21, 2019 at the Chaska Event Center.

  • 2014: The Gathering Place, St. John’s Lutheran Church
  • 2015: The Blessed Bee Thrift Store
  • 2016: Launch Ministry 
  • 2017: Love INC
