What happened this week?
We had a rainy start to the week which made for some wet ground. It's challenging to conduct soil correction/grading work when the ground is so wet. Thanks to the wind and sun later in the week, grading work was able to resume.
What is happening next week?
Next week will start with more grading work. Later in the week work on the footings of the facility will begin.

Why a new building?
When the planning process started, we looked at this project as a remodel and addition to the current fire station. As we went through the structural analysis, it was determined that due to the foundation and design of the current building, parts of it would need to be demolished and then rebuilt.
Because a part of the building would need to be demolished in order for us to add on, it ended up being a similar cost to build a new building. With a new building, we also have some additional benefits:
- more efficient use of space
- long-term maintenance for new building is more cost effective
- reduces construction timeline
- provides flexibility for the future
